Apple Roll Out iOS 8.1 Update!
The iOS 8.1 update is now available for download!
Apple has finally released the iOS 8.1 update with features like Apple Pay valid only for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, Camera Roll, iCloud Photo Library beta, Continuity and many more. The update started rolling out on Monday, it is available to download for devices like iPhone 4S and the later versions, iPad 2 and its upgraded versions, the fifth-generation iPod touch and also for the third-generation Apple TV.
Since the Apple Pay mobile system is only available for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, since the app requires a dedicated secure chip and NFC connectivity, which is only available in the new handsets to communicate with the retail terminals. The smartphones support a 'Secure Element' for storing credit card data and also 'Device Account Number' which is unique to each iPhone.
As of now, the Apple payment system works well with American Express, MasterCard and Visa issued by Bank of America, Capital One, Chase, Citi and Wells Fargo banks. These banks control over 83 per cent of credit card purchase volume in US. Last week Apple announced about its tie up with almost 500 banks for the service.
With iOS 8.1 update, company has re-introduced the ‘Camera Roll’ gallery, which first evolved with iOS 7 update, but was later dropped in iOS 8. It has also added the public beta of the iCloud Photo Library, which enables new sharing features and helps in storing or maintaining the back up of all the photos across the iCloud enabled devices.
Other feature which has been introduced with iOS8 is the continuity feature allows the users to send and receive SMS via tablets and Mac computers. Apart from this, iOS 8.1 update will also fix several bugs reported by the users, like Wi-Fi performance issues, screen rotation bug, bug in Safari where videos didn’t play at times and many more.
